Steve trained at Portsmouth and moved to Norfolk in the mid seventies to teach art and set up his studio. Alongside his own work as a sculptor and woodcarver, he has taught part-time in a number of schools across the County of Norfolk. He has conducted numerous carving and sculpture workshops for schools, local authorities and other organizations.

During the Autumn of 2006 Steve was artist in residence at Nant Mill Country Park in N.E. Wales where he conducted workshops with local schools and created a sculpture trail
